Bargain outfits

I'm sorry my posting has been a bit 'off' recently. I've been quite busy at the moment and have lots to do before I go away on Sunday. Chances are I won't have prepared any future posts so my blog will be post-free for a couple of weeks. Although I'm trying to save up all of my money, I've got to admit there have definitely been a few tempting items in the shops at the moment. I've created four outfits here by trying to choose the cheapest possible items. Let me know what you think...

Outfit 1
33 pounds
I really really want this dress. I saw it in the shops when it first came out and now it's only £15. If that's not reason enough to buy it, then I don't know what is! Anyway, for the sake of my bank balance, let's hope no outfit posts with this dress appear on my blog any time soon! I still haven't got myself a pair of heels like these (there's never an excuse to wear them). I considered buying the cheap Primark versions but never got around to it (maybe next time).

Outfit 2
52 pounds
Probably my favourite outfit out of these four. It's always exciting when you find something good (and cheap) in the Topshop sale, such as this top and this skirt. And these heels are definitely going on my wish list (I love that colour)!

Outfit 3
35 pounds
I was actually pleasantly surprised to find that these heels were only £17 and this lovely dress only £10! *reaches for credit card*

Outfit 4
25 pounds
The cheapest jellies I managed to find were this pair from New Look. Although they're a lot less chunky than the originals, they're not a bad replacement.

P.S. My shop will be closed while I am on holiday and will be re-opened on the 5th September.

Green Paisley Dress

I made this dress recently planning to put it in my shop but accidentally ended up making it smaller than I planned! (You can still buy it in my shop if you want) but I'm not overly bothered if I don't sell this one as it's definitely something I'd be happy to keep for myself! I can't tell you how much I love this fabric. It's come out quite blue in these photos but in real-life it's slightly more turquoise-y. My mum loved it so much, she's commissioned me to make a similar dress for her (hopefully in return for a pair of shoes!). I haven't worn this necklace in ages (some of my long lasting followers may remember the stage I went through where it would turn up in every single blog post) but I'd really like to wear it a bit more. This Office heels go with lots of things which is pretty handy. I've probably mentioned this before but they didn't actually come like this and I added the lacey-white fabric onto them so that I could wear them to my Year 11 prom last year.

Wisharawish

I've been listening a lot to the radio recently (it's constantly on in the background while I'm doing things) so I've heard a lot of new songs (still don't know what they are all called though!). There's actually quite a few good ones out at the moment (I love this song, this one and this one just to name a few). On another note, what is happening with this weather?! We need the sun back!

Wisharawish is a really exciting brand based in Thailand. I love the techniques the designer uses in all of these pieces (definitely take a closer look at these images or look on the designer's website for close up shots). What do you think?

Topshop and Prada

Good luck to everyone who's getting results this week! I've been trying not to think too much about it but results day seems to have suddenly crept up on me! I'm in a slight panic mode though at the moment (I've got lots of coursework to get through before I go away on holiday and I'm nowhere near finishing). Anyway, nothing like a bit of fashion to take your mind of things....

Have you seen these shoes?! They're from Prada and they're made of such a gorgeous blue velvet material. (I'm selling them in my shop if you want to have a look.). My top and skirt are both new and from Topshop. I bought them in the sale when postage was free so managed to bag them for a total of £11 - not bad, I thought. I've only had this top for a week or so but I've found it so useful and it goes with basically everything.

What do you think of my outfit? Which is your favourite piece?

I can now call myself a designer

I'm so excited about this post and the fact that my handmade clothes are soon and now available to buy. I've only put up one thing in my shop but have 3 more items nearly ready and waiting as soon as my zips and thread arrive in the post! I'm very proud of my dress below. It has no mistakes or anything wrong with it at all. I've posted it here and on my asos marketplace. I've also got new vintage/pre-worn clothes being posted at some point next week so look out for that.
I instantly fell in love with this fabric and had to buy it. I've got lots more left so I'll definitely be making more things with it. The dress is fully lined (I've actually really started to like lining my garments. It reduces the amount of hemming needed, which is something that always frustrates me). Anyway, I hope you like the dress and be sure to come back to check for my other pieces!

What do you think of my dress? How are you spending your weekend?

Nasty Gal Wish List

Has anyone else found that they've been subconsciously planning Autumn/Winter outfits in their head? The weather's not amazing here (I wouldn't exactly count 21 degrees and cloudy as 'summer' weather) so I guess it's made me think about what I might wear when it starts to get a bit colder. You know, it's only 4 and a half months until Christmas (...it's definitely too early to start thinking about that!). I'm not looking forward to it of course, I've enjoyed having bare legs and not having to worry about whether or not my outfit goes with my jacket, but I have to admit I'm looking forward to a bit of winter shopping!
I've yet to come across a blogger who doesn't like Nasty Gal. I would definitely buy myself a few things from the shop if it wasn't for the fact that the postage to the UK is so expensive. Anyway, in a dream world, here are the items that I would pick out...

100th post!

I've been blogging now for about 10 months (how time flies!) and I've finally reached my 100th post. I'd never have thought a year ago that blogging would become one of my favourite things to do and I'd spend my spare time browsing through outfit posts and wish lists constantly! Saying this, I've actually been pretty rubbish at the moment (I use my time so inefficiently it's ridiculous) and still have lots to catch up on! On the bright side though, dress making has been going well and I'm looking forward to posting some items on my shop soon.
So for this outfit, I brought out a shirt I actually haven't shown on my blog before. I've had it for ages (another from my Grandma's wardrobe) and it's one of my favourites. It's so easy to wear and can be easily paired with a skirt, such as the one below. The skirt is from Topshop and can also be seen in this post here

Please note: Any nail polish fanatics look away now!

Bora Aksu

I recently bought a huge load of fabric which I'm going to be using for making clothes to sell on my shop alongside my other items. I've never actually made an item of clothing for anyone other than my family before so it's definitely going to be a challenge making sure everything is perfect (I've already started to get frustrated at myself!) but I'm hoping to have some things finished by the end of the summer. Hopefully you'll like them and might even go as far as making a purchase...! On another note, I'm looking for new TV series' to watch and was wondering if you guys had any recommendations?
So the designer I have chosen today is Bora Aksu. He has been one of my favourite designers for a while now and it's a surprise I haven't done a post on him yet. His designs might not be the most exaggerated or 'out there' but they are incredibly well made (I wish I could sew as well as this!). If you like the collections below, I would definitely recommend having a look at some of his earlier collections as well (which are personally my favourites) here
