Party dress wish list

I visited Kingston University today to find out about their foundation course. It's definitely somewhere I'd like to study but it's so competitive only 10% of those who apply for the course actually receive a place so I'm not holding out too much hope! On another note, I've been buying quite a few things on ebay recently which I'll be sure to show you at some point in future outfit posts.  

As it's coming up to Christmas and the party season is getting closer, I thought I'd pick out some of the dresses I'd love to own this winter. My friend's having a Gatsby themed 18th party so I've been browsing ebay for cheap finds (let me know if you spot anything!) and have been lusting over a few other dresses on there as well. Anyway, for full price/ridiculously expensive outfits, here are my picks....

Blue and White

I'm off to Kingston open day on Saturday which should be interesting. It's my first open day as I've only got 3 Unis to go and look around in total (... since I've decided to do an Art foundation course somewhere local) and am going to be visiting UCA soon as well. Is anyone looking at/have been to these unis? or have done an Art Foundation course? I'd love your opinions! All of this thinking about the future kind of makes me forget what I'm doing now though... (I should probably do some coursework after this bit of procrastination).

Onto my outfit, and I'm wearing a dress I bought on ebay over a year ago. I adjusted it a bit and decided to take the sleeves off in the end as I felt they looked a bit too baggy. It's quite a summery dress (obviously not the weather for it) but I wanted to show you something completely unseen.

This post took an incredibly long time to put together but I think it was almost compulsory for me to have a Fashion Week round up post so here it is. Vintage Blazer

While I was out in London on Saturday, I also did a bit of vintage shopping and bought this blazer. I've been looking for a blazer for a while now and after browsing continuously on ebay I felt it would be better to actually try it on before buying one. I really like the one I chose and it's going to be perfect for staying warm in the colder months (especially since my previous winter coat is now ruined by oil paint - anyone know any magical removal tricks?). I'm wearing my blazer here with my paisley dress (£2 from ebay) and my boots (also from ebay - you can buy them here).

Holly Fulton Spring/Summer 14

I had a really great time yesterday when I went to see the Holly Fulton show at London Fashion Week. Not only did I get to see the collection but I found the courtyard in Somerset House was the best place to people-watch. There were a lot of very exciting outfits there (...as well as a few mistakes). As everyone there was dressed in Autumn/Winter clothes, it gave me quite a few ideas and I'm actually really liking the trends for next season. One trend you really couldn't miss, was the amount of black clothing (literally everywhere you looked someone was sporting the all-black look). The show was amazing of course and I loved the use of colours and the different patterns and prints. Going to a show really makes you appreciate the way in which something is worn and the way it moves and fits on the body, something which really can't be shown in a photograph. I had a good view luckily, and the layout had changed from the classic catwalk to a sort of walk-around-the-room arrangement, making it a lot more spacious.

What do you think of this collection? Did anyone else go/is going to LFW?

I'm going to have to start taking photos earlier in the day soon, as it's already starting to get darker in the evenings (summer has definitely finished no doubt about it).  Personally, I love winter but hate Autumn. There's never much happening and it justs rains all the time!

. Is anyone heading off to London Fashion Week this weekend? I was very lucky to receive an invite to the Holly Fulton show on Saturday and to the Kilian Kerner presentation on Friday. Has anyone been to a LFW presentation before? ...I'm not sure whether it's worth travelling all the way into London for? Anyway, I'm pretty excited to see the catwalk show (well, as much of it as I can at my height...I've got a standing ticket, of course) and I'll be sure to feedback on it at some point. 

I was thinking about wearing this dress on Saturday. I bought it recently at a car boot sale and picked it up for the bargain price of £3 - pretty pleased with that! I don't own a lace dress and I thought it would be perfect for the winter months so I just had to buy it. It's quite a unique style and I love everything about it, from the collar, to the bows, to the slightly high waist line. I definitely wish I had some better heels to go with it though... maybe some Jeffrey Campbells or these, these, or these

Hair and Beauty

I am back to blogging (as in posting) but I still need to get around to catching up on everyone else's blogs. I've got quite a lot going on at the moment so I promise after next week I'll be right on it! I might start organising my time better and giving myself more time for blog reading as I really should/would like to do more of that. I might go on a bit of a blog hunt as well and find a few newbies to add to my collection! 

I haven't really talked much about hair and makeup on my blog as it's not really my 'thing' as it were, but I thought I'd step aside from the fashion slightly for this post. I'm in that phase at the moment where I really want to do something different with my hair, do you ever get that? Uh huh...well...every year or so this happens to me. I never end up changing anything drastic (...ever!) but I'll spend my time collecting images of how I wish my hair could be if I could do anything. So below are an assortment of hair and makeup ideas that I've collected recently....

Hello all! I got back yesterday from a holiday to Mexico, hence the 2 week disappearance. I had a lovely time there - mainly lazing around on the beach and eating enormous amounts of food...what's not to love!? and we even went a bit cultural and visited Chichen Itza (the seventh wonder of the world... only 6 more to go now!), Coba temple (we were able to walk climb up this to see the view of the jungle) and swam in the Gran Cenote (a sort of underground cave with water). Unfortunately I never actually got around to taking any outfit posts while I was there (something which I regret) so have no Mexican/holiday outfits to post. However, I've missed blogging a lot so decided to jump right in with another outfit post today. 

I've worn this skirt a few times already on my blog (most recently here, or way back here and here) as it's definitely one of my favourites. I've made a lot of use out of it since I bought it last summer and I'm sure I'll use it a lot in the future as well. I paired it with just an old plain white t-shirt. I'd quite like to experiment with plain t-shirts a bit more as often I just opt for a buttoned up shirt, and I've already started coming up with a few ideas of ways to style it. I'm also wearing a vest/waistcoat/cardigan thing which has beaded flowers on it. I was given it by my Mum when she no longer wanted it. I saw it in my wardrobe the other day and decided it was time for it's blog debut!
